Flowers in a Vase

Flowers in a Vase includes my homegrown flowers.  I changed some of the colors to make the painting contain orange and to create it from impulse.   I had fun with this work because glass and water allow one to look through the clear water and glass vase to see the background.  Sometimes the background has all sorts of changes, and sometimes it looks exactly the same.  In addition, the almost cylinder shape of the vase allowed me to focus on ellipsis: the water, base of the vase, and top of the vase. I love painting glass and water and the flowers give the painting life.  This work is not for sale.

I am entering one of my works for Reflected Light: a Midsummer's exhibition.  It may be juried so wish me luck.  This is the announcement for exhibit on Reflected Light's blog,  http://reflectedlightbol.wordpress.com/ , naturally I did not design it.

Wetland Water

This painting is titled Wetland Water .  Dirt banks the water in the foreground.  Further back the grass is growing out of the water.  Throughout the painting, there are a variety of browns.  Part of the water is green and orange.  I added it because I love adding colors to water. Wetland Water is an acrylic painting that measures 16” x 20.”  Contact marnismith922@gmail.com for details.
